Route 1 is proposed to become Route N1. This route would create new connections between Allegheny Valley and East Liberty.

Key Route Improvements
- Would create new connections between Allegheny Valley and East Liberty, retains key connections to Waterworks.
- Would increase weekday and Saturday frequency to 30 min from 40 min, and to 40 min from 50 min on Sundays.
- Would improve reliability due to service design and the shortened alignment ending at East Liberty.
Route Highlights
- The existing Route 1 would be shortened and function as a feeder to the East Busway, which would improve reliability, on-time performance, and provide access to high frequency service and more connections.
- Service on Freeport Rd between Tarentum and West New Kensington would be provided by Route N3, which would also expand coverage up to Natrona Heights and Highlands Mall.
- Service between Waterworks and Downtown would be provided by Route D5 via Millvale, Route D75 via Oakland, and Route D91 via Lawrenceville. High frequency connections would be available at East Liberty Station.
- Service between Allegheny Valley and East Liberty/Downtown at peak on weekdays would be provided by Route L1.
