Route 44 is proposed to become Route D44. This route would have increased frequency in exchange for a shortened route.

Key Route Improvements
- Would retain existing connection to Downtown from Beltzhoover, Knoxville, Mt Oliver and Saint Clair.
- Would increase weekday frequency to every 30 min between 6 AM and 6 PM, and to every 60 min on Sundays.
- Would improve service reliability through service design and a shortened alignment ending in Saint Clair.

- The D44 would have increased frequency in exchange for a shortened route with coverage lost for areas that have very low ridership on the existing route.
- The Station Square transit hub would provide connections to light rail as well as routes serving East Carson Street.
- The South Hills Junction transit hub would provide connections to light rail.
