Route 86 is proposed to become Route D86. This route would create new direct connections from Penn Hills to all of the destinations along the existing 86 route.

- This proposal incorporates a segment of the existing 77 and improves service frequency along Frankstown Rd from Penn Hills.
- The D86 alignment would be very similar to the existing 86 alignment from Homewood to Downtown.
- Service on Oakwood St into Wilkinsburg would be provided by route O73.
