Route N79 East Hills - Wilkinsburg | Bus Line Redesign

Routes 79 and P17 are proposed to become Route N79. Route N79 would create a new all day direct connection to East Liberty for the East Hills.

Would increase transit access between East Hills and East Liberty through daily service.
Would increase weekday peak frequency to 30 min; would increase Sunday frequency to every 60 min.
Would retain connection to Wilkinsburg and provide more local connections via a transfer in East Liberty.

Route N79 would have frequent service via a transfer in East Liberty or from Wilkinsburg Station.
Service on Chaske St and Aber Rd would be discontinued due to low ridership; the routing would be streamlined to be more direct through challenging topography.
The N79 would connect to the East Busway at Wilkinsburg Station for fast and frequent access Downtown and to Oakland.
Improved frequency, connections, and reliability were prioritized for this route, and the trade-off was streamlining the routing and losing some coverage.
