About the Project
Pittsburgh Regional Transit (PRT) is evaluating the light rail system and developing a strategy for its future. The assessment will aid PRT in balancing costs to operate and maintain the system with ridership goals in response to changes to travel patterns and land uses along the existing rail lines. Input from the public, municipalities, and stakeholders along the light rail system will inform this long-range strategy.
Update
March 2026: The project is beginning internally with an initial period of data collection and analysis. No stakeholder or public meetings have been scheduled at this time.
