Route P1 is proposed to become the Purple Line (PR) with the only change to its current alignment in Downtown. The Purple Line will share the PRTX loop (Liberty Ave, Sixth Ave, Fifth Ave) with the Green Line and X50, X60, X61, X80, and X90.

Connections to/from Pittsburgh International Airport via Route X20 would be possible from East Liberty and Negley Stations, as well as Wood St Station Downtown.

Summary of Proposed Changes

Purple Line service would run every 5 minutes at peak times between Swissvale and Downtown.
The Purple Line would run until 2:00 AM every dayof the week.
An improved Purple Line would offer more frequent connections to the rest of the PRT network.
Many routes are proposed to connect to the Purple Line to provide rapid service to Downtown and other destinations along the East Busway. More frequent Purple Line service would provide reliable connections at various times of day, every day of the week.
All East Busway routes (Purple Line, L10, X20, D64, D67, and L75) are proposed to serve all stops in both directions, which would increase overall service frequency and make riding the Busway easier to understand.
